Baxter

Challenge:

The number of surgeries using this instrumentation was on the rise in the early 1980's. The only place a surgeon could purchase such instruments was from Germany. The backlog of shipments from there could be as long as three to four months. To meet the increasing demand in the U.S., another company had to begin production of these instruments in the States.

Goal:

Identify the insulating coating used in Germany so as to duplicate their success.

Solution:

scissorsOrion set out to do just that. Once the coating was analyzed and identified, a process was developed and the testing equipment purchased by Orion to apply the coating and to test the instrumentation for film integrity, dielectric strength, and electrical insulating values. As a result, Baxter was able to meet the increased demand and greatly increase their market share and position in the industry.
